By Victor Bieni, Asaba
The President-General, Delta Youth Coalition (DYC), Comrade Chibuzor Agunwa (a.k.a Mr. Dash), has congratulated the Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori as Appeal Court today rules in his favour as the Delta PDP Governorship Candidate for 2023 general elections in the State.
DYC in a press statement made available to some group of Journalists today being on Monday, 29th Day of August, 2022 in Asaba Delta State capital applauded the Appeal Court Judgement that affirms the Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chief Sheriff Oborevwori as the Delta PDP Governorship Candidate.
Delta Youth Coalition while thanking God Almighty for giving victory to the Delta 2023 PDP Governorship Candidate, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, then Commended the Judiciary as the last hope of man.
Comrade Chibuzor Agunwa (a.k.a Mr. Dash), also commended all the Supporters of Oborevwori in the Sherification Movement for their calmness and Steadfastness while awaiting the Appeal Court Judgement between Edevbie and Sheriff, while thanking Deltans for their confidence in the Judiciary as part of our democratic experience.
Recall that Olorogun David Edevbie, Former 2023 PDP Governorship Aspirant who came out second position in the party’s Guber primaries in May 25th this year 2022 has approached the Federal High sitting in Abuja sought for the disqualification of Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori who was the anointed aspirant of the incubent Governor, Sen. Dr. Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa had emerged the PDP Guber Candidate after polling 590 delegates votes to beat other aspirants.
The suit which was filed by Olorogun David Edevbie in Federal High Court Sitting in Abuja for the disqualification of Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori bothers on the ground of Certificates forgery and discrepancies. To this end, delivering Judgement by Justice Taiwo Taiwo, the Federal High court Sitting in Abuja held that Oborevwori lacked the legal competence to participate in the election.
Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori who believed that the court has been part of our democratic experience, having confidence on the Judiciary as the last hope of man, then embarked on the appeal process to be restored as the Governorship Candidate of Peoples Democratic Party in Delta for the 2023 general elections in the State, delivering Judgement today by the Appeal Court Sitting in Abuja, the Judge upturned the Judgement of the Federal High Court restored, declared Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori as the rightful Governorship Candidate of Peoples Democratic Party PDP in Delta State.
The media learnt today that the Appeal Court Judge held that, the Judgement of the learned trial Court (Federal High Court) is erroneous, null and void. That the allegations of fraud such as fake documents cannot be resolved by originating summons nor by affidavit evidence rather that the suit ought to have been commenced by writ of summons. Also that the Court lacks Jurisdiction to entertain the suit and that, Edevbie’s case was not ripe because Sheriff’s name has not been sent to INEC.
DYC Leadership then used the medium to call on Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori and David Edevbie, their Supporters should unite together, strategize and incorporate as much as other critical stakeholders for effective mobilisation before and during campaign and election proper. Also that their supporters should embrace one another, Oborevwori and Edevbie should quit further litigations for the interest of PDP in Delta State so as to clinch victory in the forthcoming general elections in the State.
