*******NIDO Africa Launches Urgent Emergency Hotline for Nigerians Across the Continent
NIDO Africa (Nigerians in Diaspora Organization Africa) today announced the immediate launch of a dedicated emergency contact line aimed at providing urgent assistance to Nigerians in distress anywhere on the African continent. This critical initiative underscores NIDO Africa’s enhanced commitment to citizen support and welfare.
The new emergency hotline is: +264858166717
According to Professor Jude Osakwe, Continental Chairman of NIDO Africa, this vital service is a direct response to the increasing need for timely and effective support for Nigerians facing unforeseen challenges in various African nations.
“In alignment with our enhanced commitment to citizen support, I have been directed by the Continental Chairman, Professor Jude Osakwe to announce the immediate launch of a dedicated emergency contact line for Nigerians requiring urgent assistance within the continent,” stated Ambassador Folaji Audra, Public Relations Officer, NIDO Africa. “This number will serve as a crucial lifeline, ensuring that our compatriots in distress can reach out for help and guidance when they need it most.”
While unveiling this critical support mechanism, NIDO Africa also took a strong stance against the perceived failures of Nigerian diplomatic missions. Professor Osakwe particularly condemned the Nigerian High Commission in Mozambique for its persistent failure to respond to the pleas of distressed Nigerians, especially those incarcerated in Mauritius.
“It is deeply regrettable that despite several letters written to the Nigerian High Commission in Mozambique by NIDO Africa concerning the plight of Nigerians in prisons in Mauritius, they have kept mute,” Professor Osakwe lamented. “This attitude is unacceptable and shows a clear dereliction of duty towards their primary responsibility of protecting Nigerian citizens abroad.”
Professor Osakwe highlighted the ongoing anticipation for a prisoner exchange agreement between Nigeria and Mauritius, a development that NIDO Africa hopes will bring relief to affected individuals. However, he stressed that diplomatic missions must remain proactive and responsive in the interim.
NIDO Africa urges all Nigerians residing in or traveling through African countries to save the new emergency number: +264858166717, and to utilize it for urgent matters requiring immediate intervention. The organization assures its commitment to advocating for the rights and welfare of all Nigerians across the continent
