In a remarkable tribute, UNESCO South and Central America, led by Ambassador Distinguished Professor Sir Luis E. Abad Pedraza, celebrated the distinguished academician Prof. Sir Bashiru Aremu on his five-year anniversary as a UNESCO Laureate.
Sir Pedraza, speaking from Argentina, extolled Aremu’s dedication to global education, commending his numerous achievements and lifelong contributions to intellectual and educational advancement worldwide.
“Prof. Aremu stands as a beacon of intellectual integrity and excellence. His contributions to global education are worthy of emulation, and his achievements are deeply respected by UNESCO and academic institutions across the globe,” stated Sir Pedraza.
The Ambassador’s message highlighted Prof. Aremu’s role as a globally renowned Professor of Computer Science, Information, and Communication Technology.
He noted that Aremu’s influence spans continents, inspiring intellectual growth and advocating for the advancement of education.
In recognition of these contributions, UNESCO South and Central America conferred upon Aremu the prestigious title: Most Notable and Top Distinguished World Acclaimed Professor Emeritus of the 21st Century, alongside the Global Golden Medal and Global Golden Certificate of Prize.
Prof. Aremu, an academic icon hailing from Iwo, Osun State, Nigeria, serves as the Vice-Chancellor of Crown University International Chartered Inc., USA. Since 2013, his career has been marked by groundbreaking roles and numerous global appointments.
Among them, he serves as the World Grand Chairman of the World Accreditation Commission, a body partnered with UNESCO. Aremu has also chaired accreditation panels for universities in Nigeria and governs councils across international institutions, including the Kings and Queens Medical University College in Ghana and Ibikunle Lawal Institute of Technology, Ile-Ife
His recent 2024 appointments include Chairman of the Unity of Nations Action for Climate Change Council (UNAccc) and Global General Secretary of the World Sustainable Development Goals Organization, in partnership with the United Nations.
A sought-after speaker, Prof. Aremu has addressed prominent events, including Nigeria’s National Treasury lecture in 2022, the United Nations Global Compact Leaders Summit, and conferences in Asia and Europe.
His insights on innovative education and economic growth have made him a pivotal figure in international academia.
Aremu’s accolades are numerous, marking his stature as a global academic leader. His honors include the “World Acclaimed Distinguished Professor Emeritus” title from the University of Nigeria, the Global Philanthropist Award from eSkillGrow Virtual University, and entry into the Bengal Book of Records and Netaji World Records in Asia.
Recently, he received the Royal Society for Arts, Manufacturers & Commerce Fellowship in the UK and was honored by IPHREC as a Distinguished Teaching and Research Professor.
