Prof Nduka Uraih PhD, Vice-Chancellor, Sports University of Nigeria (SUN), Idumuje Ugboko, Delta State, Nigeria, has congratulated the newly matriculated 98 undergraduate students, urges them to be diligent in their studies, focus and cultivate the culture of discipline as institution successfully Matriculated 98 students during the University’s recent first and second combined Matriculation ceremony held at the institution’s main campus at Idumuje Ugboko, Delta State, Nigeria.
The media learnt this recently from SUN VC, Prof Nduka Uraih during the University’s first and second combined Matriculation ceremony held on 6th March, 2025 recently at the University’s campus, a momentous occasion that brought together students, faculty members, parents, and dignitaries from different parts of the country.
Matriculation refers to formal process of enrolling or becoming student at University or College often involving a ceremony or the fulfillment of specific academic requirements. This is very historic as this marked the first and second combined Matriculation of Nigeria’s, Africa’s first Sports University. The higher institution is committed towards nurturing young Nigerians who are passionate about sports and education.
Prof Nduka Uraih, while delivering his speech at the event commended development as he congratulated the 98 Matriculating undergraduate students of the University on success as he urged them to make good use of the unique opportunities provided to them by the institution.
The multifaceted Professor and a seasoned Educational Administrator also counselled the undergraduate students on the need to maintain focus and cultivate the culture of discipline as students for world-class sports, self development and academic excellence.

Faculty of Physical & Health Sciences with Departments such as Nursing Science, Physiotherapy and Public Health. And Faculty of Social & Management Sciences with Departments such as Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, International Relations and others”.

Speaking more on the recent development or achievement in the institution, SUN VC, Prof Nduka Uraih in a chat with our reporter today being Saturday, March 22, 2025, has lauded the Leadership of NUC for adding more Academic Programs to the University. In his words: “Earlier this week being on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 our University recorded more achievements. I must sincerely commend the leadership of National Universities Commission (NUC) for the newly added academic programmes to be run in the Main campus of the University with effect from 2024/2025 academic session”.
“The newly added sixteen (16) different graduate degree Courses being offered at Sports University of Nigeria (SUN), Idumuje-Ugboko, Delta State, Nigeria as recently approved by National Universities Commission (NUC) included amongst others are: Journalism and Media Studies, in Public Relations, Broadcasting, Film and Multimedia Studies, Development Communication, Political Science, Sociology, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Software Engineering, Criminology and Security Studies, Marketing , Advertising, Architecture, Medical Laboratory Science, Psychology, Theatre Arts”.
