Delta State Civil Society Community led by its President, Dr. Martins Kedienhon, has tasked the Governorship Candidate of Young Progressive Party (YPP), Comrade Sunny Ofehe to uphold the principles of accountability, transparency and probity as hallmark of Good Governance as group recently engaged him, interrogated his manifestos, stressed on the need to keep his social contract with Deltans if elected come this year’s 2023 general elections in Delta State.

Our reporter learnt this today being on Monday, February 13, 2023 from the President of Delta State Civil Society Community, Dr. Martins Kedienhon as he reacted to the media questions on the outcome of the recent engagement Delta CSOs Community had with the 2023 Governorship Candidate of Young Progressive Party (YPP) as Comrade Sunny Ofehe pledges to govern the state by putting its citizens, the people Deltans first in his policies.

According to Dr. Martins Kedienhon, during the meeting with the Delta born seasoned and globally acclaimed civil society leader, he stated that his decision-making if elected, given the opportunity to govern Delta State come this year 2023, that he would constantly engage the Civil Society, stakeholders and the citizens through town hall meetings in order to get first hand information of the people’s needs.

You could recall that during the meeting with the Delta Guber Candidate of Young Progressive Party (YPP), The leadership of Delta State Civil Society Community; the Executives, other critical stakeholders led by its President Dr Martins kedienhon had an engagement with Comrade Sunny Ofehe to critically examine his plans for Deltans; the richness of his political manifesto to Impact positively on its citizens. Delta State CSOs highlighted very critical issues including transparency, accountability and inclusion as very key characteristics of good governance.

The CSOs Community has stressed the need for Ofehe’s administration to manage and uphold these characteristics; accountability, transparency and probity so as to promote good governance, sustainable development and Socio-economic development of Delta State if he is elected to govern Delta come this year 2023. The group has also urged him not to plunge the state into catastrophe if elected as the Governor of Delta State, rather be a good Ambassador of the CSOs Community in Delta State.

In response to the Delta CSOs demands on the need for the Delta 2023 YPP Guber candidate to uphold all the principles of good governance; accountability, transparency and probity, he stated: “As a well known Civil Society player, I know the importance of accountability and transparency in leadership, and I promised not to deviate. I have championed several developmental projects and advocacies in Delta State through my activism and humanitarian nature even without any political influence”.

“By the grace of God, I have all it takes to Govern Delta State. I have the best strategies to improve the economy of the state and bring forth development through setting up of economy hub modelled in line with Rotterdam type and also poised towards facilitating FDI and external revenue generation to the State”.

“I will also work to facilitate Foreign direct investments, Agriculture, social benefits, free medical and Healthcare services, eradiciation of all taxes for market women, tricycle riders and hawkers; work towards creation of new jobs, among other areas which the people will be the direct beneficiaries. I will follow due process in my administration. I will be focus towards bringing sustainable development to Delta State in all areas and sectors of the State if voted for come March 11, 2023”.
