*******COMMUNIQUE OF ANIOMA WOMEN ON THE MATTER OF ANIOMA STATE CREATION (NIGERIA)
We the women of Delta North Senatorial District, Delta State of present-day Nigeria, in our capacities as mothers, wives, sisters, aunts nieces and grandmothers: and with deep respect for God Almighty, in honour of our God-‘given roles of – homebuilders, peacemakers and life-partner, do hereby, in our. quest for self-determination for our children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren down the line, unequivocally make the following assertions In support of the creation of Anioma State:
(1) that the land mass located in the southern part of Nigeria, with Edo State to its north and west, Anambra State to its east, and Delta South Senatorial District to its south is incontestably the home of the indigenes of nine Local Government Areas of Delta State namely
: 1. Aniocha North LGA
- Aniocha South LGA
- Ika North East LGA
- Ika South LGA
- Ndokwa East LGA
- Ndokwa West LGA
- Oshimili North LGA
- Oshimili South LGA
- Ukwuani LGA
(2) that the vision and the craving of our founding progenitors for the referred land mass and groups to metamorphose into a new state to be known as ANIOMA STATE, has persisted for more than seven decades and has continued to acquire an ever-increasing relevance as a means of our self-realization, actualization and inclusivity of our land and people as a sovereign state of Nigeria.
(3) that the regeneration of this protracted agenda, championed at this point in time by the distinguished Senator in charge of Delta North Constituency is quite remarkable and for this, the Senator desrves our commendations and a positive nod to this worthy development, most germane to the vision of nation building.
(4) that the women of Anioma under the aegis of Anioma Women Forum (incoporated) as bona-fide residents and co-owners of Anioma land, are eminently qualified as critical stakeholders, to lend their voices to the issue of Anioma State creation.
(5) that, we, Anioma Women, passionately concerned about posterity; the fate and identity of the Anioma child now and in the remote future are decided to give our authorial signature to the move to create ANIOMA STATE.
(6) that, should we renege on our responsibility to see to the fruition of this cause, that is, our struggle to give the future generation of Anioma children a designate identity by giving them their own state, they would probably forever loathe us for gross insensitivity to their welfare and well-being. Therefore, we, Anioma women, can not afford to be compromised on our stand and succumb to the forfeiture of the splendours and the greater benefits of having our own state (ANIOMA STATE) created. It is far better to be on our own as a state than be elsewhere marginalised.
(7) that we, Anioma Women, as bona-fide citizens of Anioma land , are collectively in support of the creation of ANIOMA STATE and
that if and when created, the new ANIOMA STATE, as a bona-fide state of Nigeria, shall be recognised equally in status, resource empowernment and every other accruing benefits as it accrues to other states; and that as a full fledged state, Anioma State, it is expected, will have all the powers to deal with all such nagging and nerve racking issues replete in the current narratives or other arising issues in the future thereof : hence, we Anioma Women, unequivocally and emphatically support the creation of ANIOMA STATE.
