As part of efforts to checkmate the increasing rates of anti-party activities, flagrant abuse of offices, and avoid causing disaffection amongst members of the party, the trio of Delta South Senatorial Chairman, Mr Preye Joseph, YPP Warri South LGA Chairman, Pst Donald Meme and YPP Patani LGA chairman Comr Ebinipreye Yellowman have been suspended by the Delta State YPP leadership, after Arising from an enlarged meeting held on 17th of March, 2023 by the leadership of Young Progressives Party (YPP), Delta State Chapter led by its Chairperson, Mrs Bethel Ogheneyerhowomen Kajovo.
The media got briefed of this story today March 20, 2023 in a press statement which was signed by the Delta YPP State Secretary, Comrade Israel Uwayemi Ometan, which statement was made available to the media at the party’s State secretariat in Asaba, Delta State capital. The Delta YPP leadership says, the letter of suspension to its erring members took effect from March 17, 2023, the date the release was signed. The party further stated that its position on the issue had been communicated to INEC and other related inter party agency.
Delta YPP leadership stated that, “the action taken against the, YPP Delta South Senatorial Chairman, Mr. Preye Joseph, Warri South Chairman Pastor Donald Meme and Comrade Ebinipreye Yellowman were as a result of their unabated anti-party activities seen largely in their attempt to drag the party into unlawful endorsement of another party when the Young Progressives Party has its candidate for the election where they offered endorsement. The party said its action is in accordance with its Constitutional provisions in Section 18.2 (b) and Section 36.7 (a, b, f, g & h) and Section 36.8. (f) of the constitution of Young Progressives Party (YPP) 2017 as amended in 2022”.
The Statement by Delta YPP leadership reads in part:”Letter of Suspension From Office As Delta South Senatorial Chairman, Warri South LGA Chairman and Patani LGA chairman” Pursuant to your recent political activities which borders on your flagrant abuses of the Privileges accorded your several offices and in an open breech of party standing protocols and conduct likely to cause disaffection among party members, in your unabated anti-party activities seen largely in your attempt to drag Delta YPP into unlawful endorsement of another party’s candidate for a position which the young Progressives Party has a candidate”.
To this end, that you Mr Preye Joseph, Pastor Donald Meme and Ebinipreye Yellowman are herewith suspended from your offices as YPP Delta South Senatorial Chairman, YPP Warri South LGA Chairman and YPP Patani LGA Chairman”.
“This is pending the determination of the findings in your anti-party activities. In the interim, you are directed severally and independently to hand over all files, records and properties in your possessions to the State Secretary of the party”
“Accept the assurances of the party’s highest esteem and warm regards. Thank you for your anticipated cooperation and God bless you” The statement said.
